A long-awaited battle between current champion Israel Adesanya and top contender Paulo Costa is here.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will defend his division title against undefeated Paulo Costa. UFC 253 is expected to take place on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. Jones announced that he was vacating his light heavyweight belt to move up a division and take on the heavyweights. Adesanya’s showdown with Costa has been delayed by injuries and scheduling. A shoulder surgery for Costa forced him to the sidelines after a win over title challenger Yoel Romero.

The matchup between Adesanya and Costa represents just the second time in UFC history that two undefeated male athletes will have met for a title, with the other taking place over a decade ago between Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.
There’s been lot of bad words exchanged between Adesanya and Costa that will provide some additiona tension to the fight. Bout should have plenty of fireworks, and the lead-in might be epic.
Adesanya most recent fight occurred at UFC 248 against Yoel Romero, which ended with a unanimous-decision win. Paulo Costa, 2nd ranked UFC Middleweight contender, is undefeated as a professional in over 7 years. He has a 13-0 record and has claimed wins over Johny Hendricks and Uriah Hall. Furthermore, he beat Yoel Romero to earn a title shot.
No matter the final outcome, some bad blood has alright been brewing between both fighters, adding tension and excitement around the upcoming bout. Costa already stated that he won’t shake the hand of Adesanya at the end of the fight, even if he takes the winner belt.

Dana White predicts that’s going to be an incredibly bad ass fight and one of the fights of the year. The UFC 253 card will include bouts between Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz, Donald Cerrone and Niko Price, Johnny Walker and Ryan Spann.
